This publication on Danish artist Joachim Koester is a double volume, of which the first focuses specifically on one work commissioned by - "If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution" - . The second volume further investigates the notion of performativity and the human body in Koester's oeuvre and came about in the wake of his recent exhibition at the kestnergesellschaft. Often we find in Koester's work what he calls "narrative knots"-a multitude of narratives, facts and references that are bound to his notion of history. This multitude is reflected in the publication by a range of essays, including visual essays that consist of diverse images such as reproductions of art works, historical events and persons. The essays not only allow for an understanding of the sources Koester's works are informed by, they also reflect his working method as one being based on research and an archival impulse.
