Style Hunting in Istanbul

First Edition

Rated number 9 in Gerry Badger's top ten photobooks of the decade in the British Journal of Photography. Colaboration between photographer Martin Parr and Turkish label Mavi Jeans.

For decades now, Martin Parr has been bringing us insightful, ironic, and humorous images of ourselves and our fellow residents of this planet. His groundbreaking social documentary work during the 1980s in Britain garnered him much critical acclaim and inspired the succeeding generations of photographers. Parr has focused on British food, bored couples, driving, cell phone usage, and tourism, among many other topics. For this special volume commissioned and published by Mavi Jeans in Istanbul, the company asked Martin Parr to search out fashion in Turkey's most populous city. The result was, in Parr's words, "A book documenting the cultural society of Istanbul combined with observations of the city, shot and printed in under a month." This volume follows on the heels of Parr's turn at the helm of Fashion Magazine. PARRJEKTIF is a hardcover volume with blue felt-covered boards, blind stamped with the book title in Turkish, and sheathed with an obi of gold paper printed with the book title, author's name, ISBN, and Mavi Jeans logo.
