“. . . [he] can already be considered the top fashion photographer of the future, who stubbornly refuses to buy into the fleeting styles and chaotic changes of the world he photographs.” Stern
German Photo Book Award, 2008.
Having made a name for himself with his perfectly staged photographs, and with appearances in the American, British, Italian, and Japanese editions of Vogue, English artist Tim Walker (*1970 in Devon) is currently one of the world’s most influential fashion photographers. His creative imagination elevates the often simple motifs far beyond the standard of conventional fashion photography: his dream-like pictures are the result of exceptionally extensive preparations, using models in predominantly “unwearable” and glamorous clothing, shot against breathtaking backdrops all over the world. Formerly assistant to photography legend Richard Avedon, Tim Walker’s extremely individual and particular vision has ensured him a place among the outstanding photographers of today, such as Steven Meisel, Jürgen Teller, and Nick Knight.
This large-format artist’s book, which beautifully presents Walker's complete works, published to coincide his first solo exhibition.
Exhibition schedule: kestnergesellschaft, Hanover, September 14–November 4, 2007
